Norsk Tipping has reached an out-of-court settlement with customers regarding technical errors in the Eurojackpot and Super Draw systems. The resolution concludes a dispute affecting 16,968 participants whose entries were excluded from the April 2025 draws.
Settlement Details
The technical malfunction in April 2025 resulted in the invalidation of 52 winning tickets. The law firm SANDS coordinated the legal action on behalf of the players, with an initial court hearing scheduled for August 24. That session has been cancelled following the agreement. According to reports from VG, the settlement requires Norsk Tipping to enter all affected customers into a special prize draw at no cost, featuring a total pool of NOK 3m.
Regulatory History
The resolution follows a series of regulatory interventions against the state-owned operator. The April 2025 Super Draw error led to a NOK 25m penalty from regulator Lottstift in September of that year, while a Eurojackpot malfunction in June 2025 resulted in a NOK 10m fine. In December 2025, the operator received a NOK 1m fine and was ordered to strengthen anti-money laundering controls.
Norway maintains a gambling duopoly consisting of Norsk Tipping and the horseracing operator Norsk Rikstoto. While some politicians advocate for market liberalization similar to recent changes in Finland and Austria, the majority of political forces support the current system to ensure continued funding for regional sports.
